Puma Malaysia denies holding warehouse sale in Shah Alam

KUALA LUMPUR: Sportswear company, Puma Malaysia has denied holding any warehouse sale in Shah Alam.

A spokesperson from Puma Malaysia said they were caught unaware by the fake news circulating on social media and WhatsApp.

The fake news claimed that a warehouse sale is being held at the Mapletree Logistics Park in Seksyen 23, Shah Alam.

It claimed that Puma shoes and soccer boots were sold at a bargain - between RM15 to RM20 per pair.

Many bargain hunters responded to the fake message, only to find out it was too good to be true when they arrived at the warehouse entrance.

“We contacted the social media (Facebook) to take down the fake news as is not beneficial any parties,” said the spokesperson when contacted by the New Straits Times.

She noted that the photos which circulated with the fake news had probably been taken from some time back.

A Puma warehouse sale, offering discount sale up to 70 percent off, was held there in December 2016.

PUMA SE, branded as PUMA, is a German multinational company that designs and manufactures athletic and casual footwear, apparel and accessories, headquartered in Herzogenaurach, Germany.

The company was founded in 1948 by Rudolf Dassler.

The relationship between the two brothers deteriorated until the two agreed to split in 1948, forming two separate entities, Adidas and PUMA.
