Improved medical care for rural folk

KUALA LUMPUR: The people can expect a slew of pro-health policies, including improved healthcare services in rural areas.

Residents in rural areas can expect an increase in the number of specialist physicians, hospitals and 1Malaysia Clinics.

The capacity of the Family Health Development Division will also be strengthened through the expansion of the Free Family Doctor Team concept for patients of chronic illnesses.

Overall, the people’s healthcare would be boosted through the addition of health-related services such as hemodialysis, treatment aid fund and pensioner healthcare services.

Existing hospitals and health clinics would be upgraded, and new ones would be built, as well as increase in the number of Mobile Medic Team members.

The elderly and bedridden patients would receive attention via streamlining of the health and dental services to allow home visits to these people.

Senior citizens and children are set to benefit through the introduction of dual-function care centres for them.

Children and youth are promised routine non-conditional health checks at government health clinics.

Families with autistic children would be assisted via a special module for early intervention via Permata.

Not to be left out, soldiers are set to enjoy greater healthcare access via more polyclinics set up in army camps.

The BN government promises to build the country’s first army veterans’ hospital in Ipoh, Perak, that would be able to accommodate over 300,000 army veterans.

The BN government would also simplify the health services system via online processes, including registration, appointments scheduling, case referrals and treatment.
