KUALA LUMPUR: The Defence Service Asia 2018 jointly organised with NATSEC Asia 2018 is expected to see a bigger turnout compared to 2016.
During the first day,12,500 visitors and 1,500 exhibitors from all around the globe thronged the event.
The exhibitors came from foreign countries such as Germany, the US, Ukraine, Belarus, Turkey, Korea, Austria and Poland.
Another 50 nations showcased their state of the art technologies and inventories on display at the exhibition for interested parties to consider as part of their defence assets.
The four-day defence exhibition and conference held at Malaysian International Trade Exhibition Centre started yesterday and will end on Apr 19.
At least 10 Defence Ministers and 350 foreign delegates will be taking part in the exhibition as well.
The event organisers have forecast more than 50,000 visitors from about 70 nations to attend the event which had a successful run for almost 3 decades now (since 1988).
In the last DSA event held in 2016, the organisers had 27 per cent higher visitors at 42,456 compared to what they had predicted.
The number of exhibitor also rose by another 200 compared to the 15th DSA.
This time around, the main objective of most participants or countries is to discuss and find the most practical and feasible measures to stop extremism in the South-East Asia region.
Countries in and out of the region will also share and exchange defence related expertise in an event of an attack or threat.
