KOTA BARU: Twenty one women in the state were issued with notices to attend counselling sessions for wearing tight clothes in an operation here.
Four other women were also slapped with court summonses for the same offence during the operation codenamed `Ops Sopan’ which was held on Sunday.
The operation was jointly carried out by several enforcement agencies including Kota Baru Municipal Council (MPKB), Kelantan Islamic Religious Affairs Department and National Anti-drug Agency.
A spokesman from MPKB said the operation involved 90 officers and was held at hypermarkets, hotels and resort areas against women wearing indecent attire or those who did not cover their aurat as well as fail to adhere to the rules of syariah.
“Among the locations were AEON, KB Mall, Parkson, Giant, Tesco, Pantai Cahaya Bulan and a few other locations. The enforcement agencies managed to issue 21 notices and four sumonses to local women who wore tight clothes,” said the spokesman.
The spokesman said the operation started at 5pm and ended at 8pm.
In the operation, more than 1,000 flyers were also distributed to the public to encourage them to wear proper attire.
