TUMPAT: A man was found dead inside his car submerged in a canal near Kampung Paya Pasir, near here, today.
A villager stumbled upon the Perodua MyVi at 8am today.
Tumpat Fire and Rescue Department personnel recovered Loo Thong Hong's body about 11am.
Police are still investigating the circumstances leading to the man's death.
A villager, Mohd Faizal Syah Mohamed, 38, said his friend spotted the roof of the car inside the canal last night but was too afraid to check.
"This morning, he brought several friends along to the location to make sure that the submerged object is a car."
Meanwhile, the victim's friend Tea Cheng Eng, 38, said Loo was last seen by his family on the night of April 30.
"He used to live around here and sometimes like to come by for a visit. The family had been trying to contact him for the past two days but there was no answer from his phone."
Loo's body has been taken to Tumpat Hospital for post mortem.
