KUALA LUMPUR: Barisan Nasional (BN) strategic communications director Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Dahlan is urging BN to be an effective opposition.
He said BN should ensure that Pakatan Harapan (PH) kept its promise to scrap the GST within 100 days of winning the 14th General Election.
“Give Pakatan time to elect the new prime minister,” said Rahman.
“The new PM’s first first order of business is to abolish the GST (Goods and Services Tax) and deliver on Pakatan’s promise to lower the cost of living immediately,” he tweeted this morning.
“I wish them the best of luck.”
Today at noon, Pakatan’s candidate for PM, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, announced the cancellation of the GST.
“We don’t need it. We will go back to the sales tax for the moment,” he said.
The six per cent GST was introduced on April 1, 2015.
Rahman who lost to Parti Warisan Sabah’s Datuk Mohd Azis Jamman in the Sepanggar parliamentary constituency thanked supporters and activists for their hard work and dedication.
Rahman received 15,436 votes, while Azis received 28,420.
He said they would rebuild BN’s strength to fight another day.
“Stay strong,” he said.
