KUALA LUMPUR: Police have detained 17 people to facilitate investigations into the murder of a man whose body was found in front of a fast-food outlet in Taman Melati here yesterday.
The suspects, aged between 14 and 20, have been remanded until Saturday in connection with the killing of the man who was believed to have been assaulted during a fight between two groups of youths at 4am. Three of the suspects are women.
City police chief Datuk Seri Mazlan Lazim said the police were in the midst of tracking down six more individuals to shed light on the incident.
In a statement here last night, he said the victim was involved in the fight which was triggered by a misunderstanding.
He added that the assailants had used helmets and motorcycle chain-locks in the fight.
