KUALA LUMPUR: The Education Ministry wants to widen its cooperation with the United Kingdom, it said in a statement today.
This, it said, was especially in terms of English language training for its Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), and its Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) teachers.
The matter was brought up by Education Minister Dr Maszlee Malik during a meeting with UK High Commissioner to Malaysia Vicki Treadell when the latter paid him a courtesy visit.
“The visit was to, among others, discuss bilateral relations between Malaysia and the UK in the field of education. At present, it is estimated that there are 18,000 Malaysians furthering their studies in various fields in the UK, including those taking up their Masters and doctorates.”
According to Maszlee, the ministry is working to strengthen the smart partnership between the two countries, the statement said.
