PETALING JAYA: A chief executive officer (CEO) of a financial planning firm died in a fire at his residence in Mutiara Homes, here this afternoon.
The victim, Nazrin Hassan was the CEO of Cradle Fund Sdn Bhd which is a company under the Ministry of Finance.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director Mohd Rizal Buang said they received a distress call at 12.30pm informing of a fire at a double-storey semi-detached unit in Mutiara Homes today.
13 firemen, led by one officer from the Damansara Fire and Rescue station rushed to the scene and arrived at 12.46pm.
"Upon arrival, they discovered that one room in the upper floor of the unit was on fire.
"The fire was contained one minute later and fire fighters found a man, unconscious in the room," he said.
Mohd Rizal said they took the man out of the room and he was then pronounced dead.
It is learnt that the victim had been alone in the room when the fire broke out while his wife and son were in the living room downstairs.
Cause of death has yet to be determined and investigation on what caused the fire is still underway.
