KLANG: The amazing skills of a girl football juggler dressed in baju kurung and headscarf has attracted the attention of netizens and a video of her in action has gone viral on Facebook.
The ability of Qhouirunnisa’ Endang Wahyudi, 18, who is fondly called Nisa, in juggling football has probably even incur the envy of many in the male dominated sport.
She has been practising football juggling even more often in line with the current 2018 World Cup fever.
“Women in Muslim dress should not feel hindered in free style sports such as football, as the will to do so is on us,” she told Bernama when met in Bandar Botanic Lake Park near Klang recently.
The eldest of three siblings, Nisa is now studying Islamic Science at Universiti Al-Madinah in Shah Alam, said she began taking an interest in football after accompanying her younger brother to play futsal two years ago.
She said her experience in performing with two friends at Sunway Velocity Mall was probably the starting point for her to seriously hone her skills.
She said initially her father did not approve her activities in football but relented after seeing her train enthusiastically so much so her parents were now supportive of her interest.
Nisa said she looked to female footballer, Lisa Zimouche of Paris as the source of her inspiration in the sport.
When asked how she feel about the sport, she said even though Malaysia failed to qualify for the World Cup, the country could still be proud of the skills of its female football juggler.
“Women in headscarves can learn to play any sport monopolised by men and we should be bold to take up the challenge,” she said. - Bernama
