'We're not taking revenge on Najib'

PUTRAJAYA: The government is not exacting “revenge” against former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

Prime Minster Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said Najib’s family had the right to extend their concerns to the court.

“What are we getting revenge for? What he did before was worse, and we did not even complain,” Dr Mahathir claimed.

Dr Mahathir alleged that many of his friends were prevented from being associated with him.

“Their (bank) accounts were frozen and (they) never complained.

“These allegations (about government exacting revenge against Najib), what is it about?

“If they (Najib and his family) think it (the legal action) is wrong, they can take the matter to court.”

It was reported that bank accounts belonging to Najib’s daughter, Nooryana Najwa, and her son, had been frozen.

The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission denied that her son’s bank account was frozen.
