TAWAU: Four men, including a teenager, were killed while two sustained injuries in a four-vehicle accident at Jalan Chong Thien Voon here this morning.
It is learnt that a 34-year-old woman who was driving a Toyota Vios under the influence of alcohol, had lost control of her car and went into opposite lane during the 1.15am incident.
The car then collided with a Toyota Hiace, a Perodua Bezza and Perodua Myvi which rammed into few people who were sitting at the parking area of the BDC Commercial Centre.
The deceased are Hiew Nyuk Wei, 30; Clawrence Wong Vun Kit, 21; Dicson Lim Kien Shing, 16 and Chong Wei Chan, 21.
The woman suffered minor injuries while another victim Chin Guan Xiong, 21, suffered a broken leg.
The bodies were sent to Tawau Hospital for post-mortem, while the injured duo were treated at the same place.
District police chief Assistant Commissioner Fadil Marsus said the incident was caused by intoxicated Toyota Vios driver who lost control of her car.
“The driver will be remanded for further investigation under Section 44 of the Road Transport Act 1987 (for driving under the influence of alcohol),” he said when contacted.
