PENAMPANG: Three people were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol during the 'Op Mabuk' operation carried out on Jalan Pintas, here, early this morning.
District police chief Superintendent Sammy Newton stated that all three drivers, aged between 20 and 50, were arrested under Section 45A (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
"Upon conviction, they can face imprisonment for up to two years and a fine ranging from RM10,000 to RM30,000.
"During the operation, police also issued 13 summonses for various offences, including six for driving without a license.
"A total of 95 individuals and 83 vehicles were checked.
"This operation aims to monitor the safety of road users and ensure their compliance with traffic laws," he said, adding that 'Op Mabuk' was concluded at 3am.
