IPOH: Maktab Rendah Sains Mara (MRSM) Taiping's kitchen operations have been shut down for two weeks after 39 students came down with food poisoning last Wednesday.
State Health committee chairman A. Sivanesan said the instruction was issued a day after the food poisoning incident.
The 39 students had showed symptoms of food poisoning such as vomiting, diarrhoea, nausea after having meals at the school's dining hall, said Sivanesan.
"A total of 37 students received outpatient treatments at the Taiping Hospital while two other students had to be warded.
"Clinical samples have been taken and the cause of the food poisoning can be ascertained after we receive results from the samples which take about two weeks," he said when contacted today.
It was reported last Thursday that 31 students here were rushed to the Taiping Hospital after complaining of stomach ache, nausea and vomiting.
They were believed to have fallen ill after eating a black pepper beef meal for dinner at the school’s dining hall.
