Mohamed Hanipa wants report on strike by cleaners at KL Court complex

PUTRAJAYA: Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Mohamed Hanipa Maidin has instructed his officers to obtain a full written report on a strike by cleaners at the Kuala Lumpur Court complex.

Mohamed Hanipa, who is in charge of the legal portfolio, stressed that he wants a transparent report on the matter.

“I want a full and transparent report. No cover-up whatsoever,” he said in a statement today.

It was reported on Friday that members of the courthouse – including judges, magistrates and other staff members – have been carrying out their own cleaning work, such as sweeping floors and cleaning toilets, after some 20 cleaners went on strike following the recent fasting month.

It is learnt that the strike was called due to alleged arrears in salary payment.

It was also reported that Chief Justice Tan Sri Richard Malanjum was aware of the issue and had requested that court officers attend a ‘gotong-royong’ held at the complex yesterday.
