KUALA LUMPUR: As if Batu Caves didn’t have enough attractions to make it a magnet for visitors, the Malaysian icon recently unveiled a vibrant new look.
All 272 steps of the staircase leading to the Temple Cave were repainted myriad colours – and the effect is stunning.
With the majestic golden statue of Lord Murugan in the foreground, the main facade of the religious landmark is now a dazzling rainbow of colours.
Home to the tallest Lord Murugan statue in the world, Batu Caves is one of Malaysia's top tourist hotspots and a sacred landmark for Hindu devotees.
At a height of 42.7 metres, the Lord Murugan statue was unveiled in 2006 and is also the second tallest statue of a Hindu deity in the world.
During annual Thaipusam celebrations, up to two million Hindu devotees and tourists visit the Caves.
