Cops probe claims of actress assaulting her assistant in Batu Caves

KUALA LUMPUR: Police today confirmed to have received a report by a 28-year-old woman who claimed she was hurt and threatened by an actress.

Gombak police chief Assistant Commissioner Noor Ariffin Mohamad Nasir said the woman lodged a report at the Gombak district police headquarters at 5.25pm on Wednesday.

He said investigations showed the woman is the personal assistant to the 32-year-old actress.

"The complainant was threatened and assaulted using a weapon by her employer and her relative, aged 30.

"The incident took place when they were at the office of the employer in Batu Caves," he said in a statement.

Noor Ariffin added that the personal assistant sought treatment at the Selayang Hospital after she sustained injuries on her face and arm.

"The incident is believed to have happened because the complainant interfered in her employer's household affairs," he said.

Noor Ariffin said the case is being investigated under Section 323 and Section 506 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt and criminal intimidation.

The statement, however, did not indicate if there were any arrests made to facilitate investigations into the case.

Harian Metro yesterday reported that 28-year-old woman on Wednesday after she was accused of stealing jewellery belonging to a popular actress.

The report, which quoted sources, said the woman was detained when she was summoned to give her statement at the Gombak district police headquarters.

"It is understood that the theft occurred in June this year after the actress noticed that her gold necklace was missing.

"A gold necklace belonging to the actress's child also went missing," the source was quoted as saying in the report.
