LABUAN: A total of 119 contingents took part in the state-level Malaysia Day parade at the Dataran Labuan here today.
The parade kicked-off as early as 7am from Jalan Merdeka to Dataran Labuan involving more than 2,000 participants representing public and private sectors, schools and higher learning institutions, non-governmental organisations (NGO), Labuan Liberty Port Management Sdn Bhd (LLPM), Malaysia Airport Berhad and village committees.
Persatuan Kadayan Labuan was named the best contingent in the private sector and NGO category, while Labuan Corporation emerged winner in the government department category.
SK Bedaun defended the title in the school category, while Persatuan Kadayan clinched the title for best attire, and Sabah Education Department, for the highest number of participants.
Royal Malaysian Customs Department won the uniformed category, and KRT Patau-Patau took away the title in village category.– BERNAMA
