KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia will go through a monsoon transition period from today until early November.
Malaysian Meteorological Department said during the transition, which marks the end of the Southwest Monsoon season, regional areas in the country will experience light winds from various directions.
"Normally, heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected to occur in short intervals followed by frequent strong winds especially in the afternoon until night.
”Most areas to be effected by this are west coast states and the interior of the peninsula, west coast of Sabah and the western and central parts of Sarawak.” it said in a statement.
The department advised the public in the effected areas to exercise caution during this transition phase and check the latest weather updates through the department's website, www.met.gov.my, myCuaca app, Facebook and Twitter pages, or Hotline at 1-300-22-1638.
