KUALA LUMPUR: The monsoon transition phase is expected to commence on Sept 24 and last until early November, marking the end of the southwest monsoon that began on May 17 this year.
The Meteorological Department, in a statement, said areas such as the western and interior regions of Peninsular Malaysia, as well as western Sabah and central Sarawak, will experience light winds from various directions, which could lead to thunderstorms.
These storms during the transitional phase typically result in heavy rainfall and strong winds over a short period, particularly during the late afternoon and early evening.
Such conditions may cause flash floods, fallen trees and damage to weak structures.
The public is advised to remain vigilant and stay updated with weather forecasts and warnings published by the department through its official website, the myCuaca mobile app and its official social media channels.
