Chinese businessman bestowed highest honour at Muslim World Entepreneur Development Awards

KOTA BARU: A local Chinese businessman has been helping Muslim orphans, the poor as well as homeless over the past 13 years.

The businessman Datuk Seri Sunny Ung has provided various types of assistance from daily essential items to the financial aid.

He has also never asked for coverage from the local media.

This is because of his sincerity in helping the needy. His contributions have, however, been recognised as Ung was bestowed the highest honour at the Muslim World Entrepreneur Development Awards (MWEDA).

According to Ung, he was shocked to receive the `Pinnacle of Supremacy’ award which is the highest recognition by MWEDA.

“I am still in shock. I have never submitted any application to enter the contest but I was told that the wide coverage given by the local media in Kelantan caught the attention of judges,” he told NSTP today.

The award was presented by Kedah Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir in Langkawi last Saturday.

The businessman has attracted much attention for his efforts to help orphans and the homeless particularly during the fasting month.

Apart from that, he also provides monthly assistance to about 200 orphans to help in school.
