JOHOR BARU: Tunku Mahkota Johor (TMJ) Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim and wife Che’ Puan Khaleeda Bustamam have expressed grief over the death of abused 11-month-old baby.
It was shared on TMJ’s Facebook (FB) page, HRH Crown Prince of Johor, upon reading the news on the case.
“Reading the news of an 11-month-old baby who died due to alleged rape, sodomy and abuse, is heartbreaking and emotionally disturbing.
“My wife YM (Yang Mulia) Che’ Puan Khaleeda and I are deeply concerned with the welfare and wellbeing of children of all ages because we are also parents,” he said.
Following this, Tunku Ismail said he and wife were compelled to be part of ‘Tindak Demi Anak Kita’ (TinDAK) campaign to support and improve public awareness on sexual abuse against children.
“Sexual abuse against children is not something that we could be taken lightly. It is a serious matter that must be addressed because it is unacceptable by all, including religion,” he said.
Tunku Ismail said his family also expressed concern over the incident.
“My mother, (Raja Permaisuri Johor) Raja Zarith Sofiah Sultan Idris Shah and sister Tunku Tun Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah Sultan Ibrahim, have previously expressed their concern and would pursue campaigns such as this.
“It is hoped that (such effort) would bring awareness on matters such as this,” he said.
The FB page also shared an online news report published by The New Straits Times (NST).
The victim, Nur Muarzara Ulfa Muhammad Zainal or Zara, died on Friday, after allegedly subjected to physical and sexual abuse by her babysitter’s husband.
The babysitter and her 36-year-old drug user husband had been arrested since and remanded to facilitate investigation into Zara’s death.
