SERI KEMBANGAN: A woman was killed and four others injured when a four-wheel drive (4WD) vehicle skidded and ploughed into the al fresco section of a restaurant at Jalan Equine 9B, Taman Equine near here, today.
It is learnt that the driver of the Toyota Hilux lost control of the vehicle, which swerved into the restaurant’s open-air dining area, striking five patrons in the 8.30pm incident.
“The victims comprise a Vietnamese and four Malaysians.
“A medical officer confirmed that one woman was killed and four others injured,” assistant director (Operations) of the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department Mohd Rizal Buang said.
He said that when the department received an emergency call on the crash, a team of eight rescuers and firefighters from Serdang were rushed to the scene.
Images taken by witnesses at the location in the aftermath of the accident show overturned and flattened plastic tables and chairs, as well as a woman awaiting medical attention sitting on the ground.
