KUALA LUMPUR: Here’s another feather to add to our capital city’s cap.
KL has been ranked the sixth best city in the world for expatriates, the Expat City Ranking 2018 revealed today.
Conducted by InterNations – the world’s largest expatriate community with 18,000 members – the survey ranked 72 major cities on a range of factors relevant to expatriate living, including quality of urban life, work-life balance, ease in getting settled, cost of living and finding quality housing, Travel Daily News reported.
KL ranked as the easiest in the world to locate housing, while placing sixth for most affordable accommodation (86 per cent of respondents said finding housing in the capital is easy, compared to the global average of 52 per cent).
KL came in fourth for ease in getting settled, with 67 per cent of respondents saying making friends here is easy, compared to the global average of 46 per cent.
Most impressively, up to 88 per cent of expats said that living in Malaysia’s largest city is uncomplicated, in part because they can communicate almost entirely in English.
The top 10 list of cities is dominated by Asian metropolises, while the bottom 10 is surprisingly almost monopolised by European urban centres.
