SUBANG JAYA: Subang Jaya Fire and Rescue Station's Emergency Response System's (EMRS) officer Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim is in critical condition.
This after he was attacked by rioters at the Seafield Sri Maha Mariamman temple in USJ 25, Subang Jaya, early this morning.
Housing and local government minister Zuraida Kamaruddin said the 24-year-old fireman is still being treated at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Subang Jaya Medical Centre (SJMC) under the supervision of five specialists.
"At this moment, Adib is still on life support, his condition is still critical, almost his entire body, especially his chest, is covered in bruises.
"Since he was rushed to the hospital by members of the public, his condition remains the same when I visited him just now, his blood pressure is low.
"He is having difficulty breathing due to broken ribs which is affecting his lungs," she told reporters at a press conference at SJMC, here, today.
Also present at the press conference was Fire and Rescue Department director-general Datuk Mohammad Hamdan Wahid.
Zuraida said the ministry will provide support for the victim and his family from Kedah who are currently at the hospital.
"I am disappointed and saddened by what happened," Zuraida said, adding that she has met Muhammad Adib's family members.
Zuraida called on everyone to pray for the best for Muhammad Adib.
"This is a sad day for all of us, these firemen are ready to face any emergency, why do this to them.
"I hope this dark episode will see no repeat, be civilised and don't do it again," she said.
