Abdul Aziz denies involvement behind plans to oust Perak MB

IPOH: Tebing Tinggi assemblyman Dr Abdul Aziz Bari today has denied the allegation that he was the mastermind behind plans to oust Perak Menteri Besar and his government, as claimed by the Perak opposition leader Datuk Saarani Mohamad.

Abdul Aziz who is also state DAP vice-chairman described the allegation by Datuk Saarani Mohamad against him as silly as “a cartoon”.

“He (Saarani) should wait until tomorrow. If the Menteri Besar is still there, that means he (Saarani) is a cheater.

“Wait until the state legislative assembly is over,” he said in a press conference at state legislative assembly here today.

Abdul Aziz said it was not an easy to pass a motion of no confidence against Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu as it would have required him to get 30 votes.

“How can I do that? I don’t understand. This is illogical ... he (Saarani) thinks that it is so easy to pass the motion of no confidence.”

Abdul Aziz described that the allegation made by the Kota Tampan assemblyman was a cheap gimmick in order to divert people’s attention from other pressing political issues.

He said he had also assured Ahmad Faizal that the whole messy episode was not true.

“Four months ago, I met the Menteri Besar at his home and I told him, ‘look, brother, I’m not here to bring you down. If you go down, all of us will go down too’.

“I am not going to dance to the Kota Tampan’s tune. I am not that childish and silly,” he said.

Earlier at the state legislative assembly, Saarani revealed that Abdul Aziz was the mastermind behind plans to oust Ahmad Faizal and his government, with at least five of the party’s assemblymen have been approached to assist in the exco members’ plan to pass a motion of no confidence against Ahmad Faizal.
