KUALA LUMPUR: Thousands of members of various silat associations from across the country gathered at the main entrance to the Federal Territories Mosque at Jalan Duta here, this morning.
Clad in black and gold baju Melayu and headdresses, the crowd chanted “Allah is Great” while carrying banners bearing excerpts of the syahadat.
The mosque is the starting point for a march by the participants who plan to hand over a memorandum protesting the ratification of the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination (ICERD) to a representative of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong at the Istana Negara.
They are scheduled to begin their march to the Istana Negara’s gate 3 at 10.30am.
Police are facilitating the smooth flow of traffic near the mosque and the situation is currently under control.
