Thamaraj creates silat history for Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: Thamaraj Vasudevan made history by becoming the first Malaysian Indian exponent to win a gold medal in the World Pencak Silat Championships at the National Art Centre in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates on Sunday.

Thamaraj defeated Khudoyberdiev Diyorbek of Uzbekistan in the final in the Putera free category.

Malaysian Pencak Silat Federation announced that Malaysia won six gold, nine silver and four bronze medals at the World Championships in Abu Dhabi.
