JOHOR BARU: Sutera Mall has planned a series of programmes and events for the upcoming Chinese New Year celebrations from Jan 4 to March 2.
The mall has been decorated with vibrant and creative Lunar New Year decorations.
“The blooming peonies around the mall and decorations to mark the Chinese zodiac (year of the pig), will give shoppers the festive mood and ambiance,” said Crystal Soon, the mall’s senior centre manager.
She said the mall understands the sensitivity of this year’s zodiac sign so all the decoration involving the sign are done in an abstract and cartoonish manner.
“During the period, there will be 25 exhibitors offering various items like cookies, gift hampers, festive decorations and fruits,” said Soon at a Press conference.
She said during the period, there will be a contest for best decorated outlet for the tenants.
“Tenants are encouraged to decorate their outlets from Jan 15 to 31 and the judging will be based on creativity, suitability and the total outlook.
“The top three winners will win cash prizes, trophies and certificates. There is also a prize for the most creative ‘green’ design,” said Soon.
Another event that has been planned is the 22nd Johor Calligraphy Competition and the Lunar New Year Reunion Gathering which will be held on March 2.
“The event is organised by the Calligraphy Society of Johor and Southern Music and Arts Association. We are expecting more than 1,000 participants for the reunion,” said Soon.
