New leads in stabbing of Maria Chin's son

PETALING JAYA: Police are getting new leads on the man who stabbed the eldest son of Petaling Jaya member of parliament Maria Chin Abdullah as he was jogging in Taman Bukit Mayang Emas, here, yesterday.

He was stabbed in the right side of his abdomen about 6pm yesterday.

The robbers did not have time to take anything from the victim and fled on a motorcycle.

The information was obtained today from the 26-year-old victim who is being treated at Universiti Malaya Medical Centre.

Petaling Jaya deputy police chief Superintendent Ku Mashriman Ku Mahmood said he could not reveal the details as it would affect the investigation.

“During the statement recording session with the victim, we found leads that can help us track down the man who attempted to rob the victim.

“We urge the public and witnesses with information to come forward.”

Ku Mashriman said it was difficult for police to identify the perpetrator as there were no closed-circuit televisions at the scene.

“We do not rule out the possibility that the suspect was from outside Petaling Jaya. Investigations are still underway.

“The case has been classified under Section 393 of the Penal Code for attempt to commit robbery.”
