KUALA LUMPUR: Economic Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali has successfully undergone surgery at an undisclosed hospital here.
The nature of the surgery and the health condition which necessitated it have not been revealed.
A string of well-wishers have paid a call on the PKR deputy president during his convalescence – among them, Youth and Sports Minister Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman, Bernama reported.
However, a visit by Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali – wife of the Prime Minister – was especially meaningful for Azmin, as his daughter revealed in a tweet yesterday.
According to Farah Amira, Dr Siti Hasmah had dropped by the hospital with Datin Seri Shamsida Taharin, Azmin’s wife.
“A picture paints a thousand words, they say. Indeed, Abah @AzminAli in high spirits, from the care, love and affection showered on him by Tun Dr. Siti who came to visit after Abah’s surgery.
“Such a gem of a person, Tun Dr. Siti is the embodiment of kindness, gentleness, love and compassion as I can see for myself in the way she cares for Abah @AzminAli,” she wrote.
In an accompanying video clip and photograph, Dr Siti Hasmah is seen in conversation with the Gombak MP, who is lying in his hospital bed.
Farah Amira added that her father is impatient to return to work.
“Oh dear, I’m not sure if this is a good thing... All this cheering up has put Abah @AzminAli in such high spirits that he says he just can’t wait to get back to work,” she added.
Meanwhile, Azmin himself took to Twitter to express his thanks and appreciation to all who had visited him.
