PUTRAJAYA: Pas secretary-general Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan is currently having his statement recorded by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), as part of its probe into an allegation that the Islamist party’s leaders received RM90 million from Umno.
Takiyuddin arrived at the MACC headquarters here at 9.20am today for the session, an MACC official revealed.
The graftbuster’s chief commissioner, Datuk Seri Mohd Shukri Abdull, recently said that the commission had so far found no evidence that RM90 million – allegedly siphoned from 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) – was channelled into Pas’s official bank accounts.
In response, Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said that the MACC needs more time to investigate the case.
The allegation was made in a Sarawak Report article published on Aug 6, 2016.
Pas responded by suing the news portal’s editor, Clare Rewcastle-Brown, for libel but both parties later settled the matter out of court.
