And the new Johor Menteri Besar is...

JOHOR BARU: The guessing game over who will be Johor’s 17th menteri besar (MB) ends today.

After accepting the resignation of Datuk Osman Sapian on Saturday, the Sultan of Johor Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar consented to the appointment of a new MB.

The swearing-in ceremony is scheduled to be held at Istana Bukit Serene here, at 9.30am.

Speculation is rife that Bukit Kepong assemblyman Dr Sahruddin Jamal, who is also state Health, Environment and Agriculture Committee chairman, will be tapped for the role.

A press conference by the new MB will be held after the swearing-in ceremony.

Speaking to reporters after his audience with the Sultan yesterday, Osman said that His Royal Highness would be imposing certain conditions on the new MB.

He said a revamp of the state executive council was on the cards.

Osman is the shortest-serving MB of Johor, holding office for just 11 months after Pakatan Harapan appointed him to the post following the 14th general election last May.
