New Johor MB awarded Datukship from Johor Sultan

JOHOR BARU: Newly-appointed Johor Menteri Besar Dr Sahruddin Jamal was awarded the "Darjah Sultan Ibrahim Johor Yang Amat Disanjungi Pangkat Kedua Dato' Mulia Sultan Ibrahim Johor (DMIJ)" by the Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar.

The award carries the title "Datuk".

The ceremony took place at Istana Bukit Serene, here, this morning, where three new faces were also sworn in as Johor exco members.

The new exco members are Jementah assemblyman Tan Chen Choon of DAP, Tenang assemblyman Mohd Solihan Badri of Parti Pribumi Besatu Malaysia (Bersatu) and Bukit Permai assemblyman Tosrin Jarvanthi also from Bersatu.

They replace Skudai assemblyman Tan Hong Ping of DAP and Bersatu's Puteri Wangsa assemblyman Mazlan Bujang.

Other exco members who were retained were Aminolhuda Hassan (Amanah - Parit Yaani), Dzulkefly Ahmad (Amanah - Kota Iskandar), Jimmy Puah Wee Tse (PKR - Bukit Batu), Dr S Ramakrishnan (DAP - Bekok), Mohd Khuzzan Abu Bakar (PKR - Semerah), Sheikh Omar Ali (DAP - Paloh) and Liow Cai Tung (DAP - Johor Jaya).

The new exco lineup took their oath of office in front of Sultan Ibrahim.

Dr Sahruddin is expected to announce the portfolios of the new exco members at a press conference later.

The Bukit Kepong assemblyman was sworn in as the 17th Johor Menteri Besar on April 14, succeeding Datuk Osman Sapian who resigned earlier this month.
