Klang Valley water cut: Supply almost fully restored

KUALA LUMPUR: Water supply has been restored to 93 per cent of areas in the Klang Valley which experienced a scheduled water cut due to upgrading works at the Phase 2 Sungai Selangor Water Treatment Plant (LRA SSP2).

In a statement today, Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Syabas) said three districts – Gombak, Kuala Selangor and Kuala Langat – have achieved 100 per cent restoration, while Kuala Lumpur has reached 89 per cent, Petaling (98 per cent) and Klang/Shah Alam (91 per cent).

“All areas listed and scheduled to have their supply fully restored by 11am today have had their taps running since 6am,” said Syabas head of Management Communication and Customer Relations Department Abdul Raof Ahmad.

“Water tankers have been mobilised to areas still without water supply; and all necessary actions have been taken to stabilise water pressure and restoration, especially in areas and at premises located on high ground and those at the end of distribution systems,” he added.

Abdul Raof said Syabas thanks all quarters involved in efforts to restore water supply; expresses its appreciation to consumers for their cooperation and understanding; and apologises for any inconvenience caused by the disruption.

The shutdown of LRA SSP2, which began on Wednesday, affected 620,835 Syabas accounts – or 4,143,465 users – in 577 areas in Shah Alam, Klang, Kuala Lumpur, Petaling, Gombak, Kuala Langat and Kuala Selangor.--Bernama
