Mazlan Mansor appointed as the new Deputy IGP

PUTRAJAYA: Federal Commercial Crime Investigation Department (CCID) director Datuk Mazlan Mansor has been appointed as the new deputy Inspector-General of Police (IGP), effective May 9.

Home Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said Mazlan's appointment could boost the police’s stature to greater heights.

“This (Mazlan's appointment) will be a good fit with the (newly minted) IGP. I hope there is strong cooperation (among all in the police force) under the new leadership not only to uphold the country's security or enforce the law, but to boost the people's confidence in the police,” he said after presenting the appointment letter to 58-year-old Mazlan.

Present was IGP Datuk Seri Abdul Hamid Bador.

Before being appointed as the new deputy IGP, Penang-born Mazlan has been the CCID director since Jan 29 this year.

The years of experience under his belt with the police force have seen Mazlan holding numerous positions at district, state and federal levels.

Among the posts he had held were Kuala Kubu Baru deputy police chief; Ipoh Criminal Investigation Division chief; Perak Commercial Crime Investigation Division chief, Melaka State Police chief; Sarawak Police Commissioner and Selangor Police Chief.

Meanwhile, Hamid told reporters that vacancies for top posts in the force arere expected to be filled within this week.

The posts include Special Branch director, Criminal Investigation Department director and Narcotic Crimes Investigation Department (NCID) director, all of which are being filled in temporarily.
