PUTRAJAYA: Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah performed Friday prayers at the Putra Mosque here.
His Majesty arrived at the mosque at 1.20pm and was welcomed by Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Dr Mujahid Yusof Rawa.
Also present were Federal Territories Minister Khalid Abdul Samad and Federal Territories Mufti Datuk Seri Dr Zulkifli Mohamad Al-Bakri.
A special sermon titled “Loyalty to King and Country” in conjunction with the installation of His Majesty as the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong on July 30, was delivered by the Grand Imam of the National Mosque, Tan Sri Syaikh Ismail Muhammad.
Syaikh Ismail in his sermon urged Muslims in the country to be loyal to the King as the head of Islam and the nation to ensure that all agenda of the administration for multi-racial harmony and progress could be achieved.
Syaikh Ismail also led the congregation in performing the Friday prayers.
Before heading home, His Majesty spent time mingling with the congregation and also presented cash contributions to children who joined the prayers.
The same sermon was delivered at mosques throughout the country.
