Muslims urged to uphold loyalty to the King

KUALA LUMPUR: Muslims across the nation are urged to uphold their loyalty to His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim to advance the country's governance and prosperity goals.

This was the primary message delivered in today's Friday sermon at mosques nationwide in anticipation of Sultan Ibrahim's upcoming installation as Malaysia's King tomorrow.

The sermon, titled "Raja Ditaati, Negara Dirahmati", said the King plays a crucial role in upholding justice in accordance with the law and the constitution.

"The relationship between the king and the people is akin to that of a tree and its roots.

"The king is the tree, while the people are the roots. Just as a tree cannot thrive without firm roots, the roots depend on a healthy and functioning tree.

"This mutual relationship shows that the king needs the people, and the people need the king for protection," the sermon said.

Muslims were also reminded of the significance of the installation ceremony, which symbolises Malaysia's constitutional monarchy and reinforces the role of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong as the guardian of the nation.

"The King, in his oath of office, has committed to governing justly according to the law and the constitution.

"He has also pledged to uphold the sanctity of Islam within his constitutional authority.

"This installation ceremony is crucial for reaffirming our loyalty to the long-established system of constitutional monarchy," the sermon added.

It further said that the King also plays a vital role in fostering national unity, ensuring proper administration, and safeguarding the nation's sovereignty and the well-being of its people.

"Moreover, with His Majesty's role as the head of Islam in the non-sovereign states namely Penang, Sarawak, Sabah, Melaka, and the Federal Territories. Whereas in other states, the Head of Islam is the Sultan or Raja of the respective state.

"The people can live in peace and harmony under this system without disturbances or unrest because we believe that we have a sovereign king who is the highest authority of our nation, called Yang di-Pertuan Agong."
