GEORGE TOWN: A mother wrote a heartfelt post on Facebook for his eldest son, who died in a road crash at Bayan Lepas yesterday evening.
Siti Hajar Ghazali recalled the moments with her son, Muhammad Saifullah Muhammad Hafiez, whom she fondly calls Chaq.
"Chaq, I am not strong, you are our life. You are the one who taught me to become a mother and friend.
"Thank you for being a wonderful son.
"Even when you were tired, you’d still do what I had told you to do. Now, rest my darling. Wait for me, your dad and your brothers and sisters there.
"We accept this as Allah's will. He gave us Chaq for only briefly, 16 years and five months," she posted.
In the 6.30pm incident, 16-year-old Muhammad Saifullah, who delivered pizza part-time on his motorbike, died on the spot after being hit by a bus, which had lost control after crashing into a parked Proton Waja and a Suzuki Swift at Persiaran Kelicap.
The bus came to a halt after ramming into the wall of a house.
The driver of the Suzuki Swift and two other passengers sustained injuries and were given treatment at a hospital nearby.
The remains of Muhammad Saifullah were buried earlier today at Tanah Perkuburan Bayan Lepas.
Southwest district police chief Superintendent A.A. Anbalagan said the 49-year-old bus driver had been detained and would be remanded from today onwards.
Initial investigations found that the bus had a brake problem, causing the driver to lose control.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.
