LANGKAWI: An AirAsia flight from Langkawi to Kuala Lumpur was forced to turn back just three minutes after take-off and make an emergency landing at the Langkawi International Airport (LTAL) here, today.
AirAsia flight AK9327, which had 151 passengers and five crew members on board, landed safety at the LTAL at 9.30am.
All on board were immediately evacuated from the plane.
According to Langkawi International Airport Holdings Berhad (MAHB) manager Jefry Ramli, the aircraft experienced a “technical issue” at 9.17am – just 3 minutes after taking off, bound for the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).
“The information on flight AK9327’s technical issue was relayed to the LTAL’s traffic control tower at 9.20am.
“We responded by immediately deploying the Airport Firefighting and Rescue Service (AFRS) – comprising three engines – to the airport runway to face any eventuality,” he added.
No one was injured in the incident.
