KUALA LUMPUR: The Federal Territories Ministry has called on the public to contribute their ideas and feedback on the KL 2040 Draft Structure Plan (PSKL2040).
Minister Khalid Samad said they could do so throughout the PSKL2040 exhibition from Feb 18 until March 18 at Menara DBKL 1.
He said the ministry and City Hall (DBKL) would extend the timeline to receive the feedbacks until May.
"It is important for us to obtain public feedback on the draft as we want to improve the development plan for the city.
"All feedback will be considered by professionals and those involved with the structure plan.
"It (feedback) will be analysed to match with the KL 2040 structure plan.
"We will contact those who file in complaints and those who request for verbal explanation to attend the next hearing session," he said at a press conference after the KL 2040 Draft Structure Plan launch ceremony at DBKL here.
Khalid added the PSKL2040 was expected to be finalised and gazetted in December.
He said the ministry would still allow room for changes in the plan even after it was gazetted.
"However, the process to change the gazetted plan is transparent and would need another public exhibition, and any amendment will be made according to the law.
"Hence when we gazette the plan, it shows that the government is committed. If however the gazzetted plan changes, the public can take legal action against the City Hall," hesaid.
PSKL2040 comprises vision, objectives and strategic directions to guide the development of Kuala Lumpur for the next 20 years.
According to Khalid, the draft focuses on finding a balance in city planning, which involves the integration of land usage with infrastructure plan, transportation, affordable housing development, jobs, public amenities, as well as to maintain the environment and greenery in the city.
Among the challenges to realise the PSKL2040, Khalid said, was the ageing population and downsizing of households.
The public can visit the PSKL2040 exhibition at DBKL tower 1 from 9am till 5pm daily.
Those who are interested to provide feedbacks or complaints can fill in their full details in the form provided or visit DBKL website at www.dbkl.gov.my/epandangan.
