Marzuki Mohamad appointed PM's new principal private secretary

KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Dr Marzuki Mohamad has been appointed principal private secretary to Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, effective March 1.

Marzuki, 48, has a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Political Science from Australian National University, Australia.

Congratulating him on his new appointment, the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) said Marzuki began his career as a lecturer at the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) in 1999.

"He was then appointed as the special officer to the deputy prime minister from 2009 to 2013, and as the political secretary to the Education Minister from 2013 to 2015," it said.

In 2015, Marzuki returned to IIUM as an associate professor at the Political Science Department, and later became the department's head.

Following Muhyiddin's appointment as Home Minister, Marzuki made a return to the political arena as special duties officer to the minister in 2018, the PMO added.
