KUALA LUMPUR: Seven districts in the Klang Valley are expected to experience an unscheduled water supply disruption after operations were halted at phases 1, 2 and 3 of the Sungai Selangor Water Treatment Plant, and Rantau Panjang, today.
Districts which will be affected are Kuala Lumpur, Petaling Jaya, Klang/Shah Alam, Kuala Selangor, Hulu Selangor, Gombak and Kuala Langat.
The duration of the expected water supply disruption is not known at the moment.
Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor) corporate communications head Abdul Halem Mat Som said operations were halted at the four water treatment plants due to odour pollution which was detected at Sungai Selangor.
He said operations were halted at 7pm after the odour pollution level was levelled at two tonnes.
“Air Selangor has reported the matter to the Selangor Water Management Authority (Luas) for further action.
“Air Selangor will also inform affected consumers on the water disruption from time to time. Consumers are reminded to use water wisely.
“The public can obtain the latest information on water supply through Air Selangor’s app or send a text to 15300 for further enquiries and assistance,” Abdul Halem said in a statement.
