IPOH: Several medical officers at the Teluk Intan Hospital have tested positive for Covid-19, Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said.
The announcement comes on the heels of a viral message on social media that a number of the hospital’s doctors have contracted the coronavirus, resulting in the disruption of operations.
"Please be informed that there are several medical officers who have tested positive for Covid-19.
"However, safety and precaution measures have been taken and we continue to monitor the situation closely," Dr Noor Hisham said in a statement on his Facebook page today.
He said the hospital is being aided in dealing with the new cases by the Hilir Perak District Health office.
"They have also taken precautionary steps by minimising exposure to other hospital staff since the first positive case was identified there.
Dr Noor Hisham also urged the public not to spread false information which could cause panic.
"Any information related to Covid-19 must be referred to the Health Ministry's Crisis Preparedness and Response Centre (CPRC) via its hotline 03-8881 0200/0600/0700 or email at cprc@moh.gov.my," he added.
