KUALA TERENGGANU: The state government will set up an online Ramadan bazaar to help traders sell their breaking of fast mouth-watering delicacies.
The authorities came up with the idea after the state government cancelled the Ramadan bazaar this year over Covid-19 fears.
Chairman of the Entrepreneurship, Human Resources, Micro Industry and hawker Affairs Committee, Mohd Nurkhuzaini Abd Rahman, said the online marketing of delicacies and other items would be monitored by the Entrepreneur Development Foundation (YPU).
He said the Service Center at 32 state constituencies were appointed as the administrator of the state-government-run online Ramadan bazaar.
“The explanatory process of how to use the online Ramadan bazaar system would be made available to all information technology (IT) personnel at the respective State Service Centres.
“The state government would not limit the number of online Ramadan Bazaars and we will leave it to the discretion of the respective service centres to manage them,” he said in a statement today.
Nurkhuzaini who is also the state assemblyman for Kota Putera said interested traders who want to take part in the online Ramadan Bazaar can register online, with the system expected to go live in the second week of April.
He said to facilitate traders and consumers, all transactions were done through e-wallet.
Commenting on the initiative to help the affected traders following the implementation of the Movement Control Order, Nurkhuzaini said the government had allocated RM4 million to help the group.
"Traders can apply for interest-free loans through funds managed by YPU," he said.
