Fama to set up sales centres for fresh produce and controlled items

KUALA LUMPUR: The Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (Fama) would set up new sales centres for fresh produce and controlled food items, said Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

He said those in the agriculture and agro-based industries have agreed to sell fresh food such as fish and vegetables at 77 locations nationwide.

He said selected Pasar Tani at 10 locations would operate between 8am or 8.30am and 11am (or noon) twice a week, while the 16 Pasar Tani permanent markets would operate between 8am and noon.

In addition, 17 Fama operation centres would also be operating, along with three Myfarm outlets including in Putrajaya, and 34 Federation of Livestock Farmers’ Association of Malaysia (FLFAM) centres.

“The entrance and exits of these premises would be manned by the police and soldiers, who would also control the crowd. Stalls would also be moved accordingly to ensure safe distancing,” he said in a live telecast today.
