BESUT: The Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (Fama) has launched Madani Ihsan Sales to assist flood victims affected by the northeast monsoon.
Its chairman, Aminuddin Zulkipli, said the initiative was a continuation of the Madani Agro Sales programme.
He expressed hope that the programme would help alleviate the high cost of living for flood victims while providing them access to basic necessities at affordable prices.
"They can also purchase fresh items such as chicken, fish and vegetables at discounts of up to 30 per cent," he said during a walkabout as part of the Madani Ihsan Sales @ Pasar Tani Kekal Nyiur Tujuh programme here today.
Aminuddin said the Pasar Tani Kekal Nyiur Tujuh was one of the few permanent farmers' markets affected by the current floods.
In another development, he said Fama entrepreneurs from the Klang Valley had contributed food items worth RM15,000 to aid flood victims in Terengganu.
"The items consist of their own products, as well as those purchased from other entrepreneurs to be donated," he said.
The distribution will be carried out by the Civil Defence Force, which deliver the items to temporary flood relief centres (PPS) during the floods.
Aminuddin said similar efforts would be implemented in Kelantan and Kedah.
