PUTRAJAYA: There are 208 new Covid-19 cases reported as at noon today, bringing the tally to 3,116 nationwide.

In a press conference on Covid-19 updates today, Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said another 122 have recovered and discharged from hospitals.

This brings the total number of patients who have recovered from the virus to 767 or 24.6 per cent from the total number of cases.

“Of the cases still undergoing treatment in hospital, 105 are in the intensive care unit, with 54 of them requiring breathing assistance,” he told a press conference, here, today.

The Crisis Preparedness and Response Centre (CPRC) were notified of five more deaths related to Covid-19 today, bringing the death toll to 50, or 1.6 per cent of the total number of cases.

The five new deaths, according to Dr Noor Hisham, involved Malaysian men and three of them had underlying health issues such as diabetes, heart problem, gout, high blood pressure and low immunity, among others.

In an effort to reduce congestion in clinics during the Covid-19 outbreak, Dr Noor Hisham said that the Health Ministry was collaborating with four companies to introduce the Online Appointment system at Health Clinics.

The four companies are Queuemed, EncoreMed, Bookdoc and DoctorOnCall.

“This is to avoid having too many people gathering at one place since we are supposed to practise social distancing.

“This system will be carried out in phases starting with four Health Clinics at Presint 9, 11, 14 and 18 in Putrajaya.

“After that, this service will be expanded to include Health Clinics in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor,” he said.
