IPOH: State executive councillor Razman Zakaria has apologised to Malaysians after pictures of him having a meal at a gathering in Lenggong has gone viral on social media yesterday.
"I would like to apologise to all Malaysians. I am not spared from legal action but here, I would like to explain the real situation.
"Everyday I travel to help our frontliners. Praise to Allah, I managed to help them (healthcare frontliners) instantly especially in addressing the shortage of equipment (personal protective equipment).
"Every night, my staff will send the meal to our frontliners who are manning the roadblocks in Bagan Serai, specifically.
"If we didn't go to the ground, we wouldn't have known that they need mobile toilets," he said in his Facebook post today.
Razman said he always adhered to the standard operating procedures (SOP) wherever he went and should the people see (the viral picture) that he had breached the SOP, he would address the matter.
"Let's pray together to endure this Covid-19 test and increase our iman and strengthen our love with the Perikatan Nasional-led government. I would like to apologise once again, thank you Malaysians and I love you all," he said.
The state education, modal, human capital, non-governmental organization (NGO) and civil society committee chairman and Deputy Health Minister Datuk Dr Noor Azmi Ghazali yesterday were seen in viral pictures enjoying a meal with about 30 others, including students, at a tahfiz.
The photos, which were first posted on Noor Azmi's Facebook account, were later deleted after many started questioning if they had breached the Movement Control Order (MCO).
Razman, yesterday posted on his Facebook account that they were served "kampung" dishes during the event. Photos showed there were between 20 to 30 people together seated on the floor eating.
Perak police chief Datuk Razarudin Husain yesterday said all those who allegedly had a meal together at a tahfiz in Lenggong during the MCO including a deputy minister would be investigated.
