PUTRAJAYA: The Health Ministry will receive the first batch of 50,000 antigen test kits from South Korea this Friday, with Sabah and Sarawak given priority to it due to logistical problems.
Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the ministry will also put two biosafety cabinets at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport for transit passengers, where antigen rapid tests could be conducted.
As for the second batch, Dr Noor Hisham said another 100,000 units will arrive on Saturday and the distribution of the test kits will begin next week.
He said healthcare personnel will also be trained on how to use the kits.
It was previously reported that the ministry has procured the test kits to enable mass Covid-19 screening in the country.
Based on an evaluation by the ministry, the antigen rapid test has a sensitivity rate of 84.4 per cent and that the specificity for the test is 100 per cent.
